Hello. I’m Kathy Uzarski and I'm the owner of Pawsitive Behavior Dog Training. Through the use of positive reinforcement training, I have been able to turn a lifelong love of animals into a rewarding opportunity to help dogs and their owners live peacefully together.

After graduating with a BBA degree from Grand Valley State University, I spent many years working in bank management. When my children reached school age, I left my bank job and began homeschooling them. We spent six wonderful years learning together each day, and then we decided it was time for them attend a traditional school. This allowed me to turn a part-time hobby of dog training into a full-time pursuit.

Because many styles of training are harsh and inhumane, I knew I needed to find an approach that would treat dogs with the kindness and compassion they deserve. While researching different methods, I found the work of renowned dog trainer Pat Miller. Pat is the founder of Peaceable Paws Dog & Puppy Training Center, training editor for The Whole Dog Journal, and a past president of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. I knew Pat was the person I was looking for and so I traveled to Maryland to attend the Peaceable Paws Training Academy.

At the Academy, students study how dogs learn and how to humanely achieve behavior modification. We also received hands-on experience by working with local shelter dogs. At the conclusion of the course, I graduated with honors and am now a Peaceable Paws Affiliate.

I'm also a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.
